HomeServe: About six years ago HomeServe, a service line warranty company, came to Clarkston and gave the Town Council a sales pitch on a program covering sewer and water line warranties; Kristi and I signed up. I know they also canvased the town as well. Recently we changed financial institutions, and I forgot to update my HomeServe account information. HomeServe called me today to let me know my coverage was ending. I was informed they had a new package that included restoration of ground after digging. To my surprise it turns out the upgrade package is considerably less than what I am already paying. If you signed up for this program you may want to make a call to see if your costs will go down as well.  The phone number is 1-888-752-6740. Regards,Mayor Hidalgo

Green Waste Dumpster

The green waste dumpsters are strictly for green waste. Clarkston is incurring extra charges for garbage that is put in the green waste dumpster. Things such as lumber and building supplies, railroad ties, and manure DO NOT belong in the green waste dumpster. The following is from the Logan Environmental website:

Logan City has a number of programs to recycle green waste materials in order to keep them out of our landfill. Green waste materials include grass, leaves, garden waste, shrubs, branches, and clean hay and straw.

Rocks, gravel, dirt, pet waste, tree root balls, sod, garbage, or plastic bags are not accepted in any of our green waste programs and should be disposed of with garbage. Green waste materials should NEVER be placed in canals, streams, ditches, or gutters. Thank you for your cooperation!

Clarkston will discontinue providing a green waste dumpster if this continues.
