Fall Green Waste Dumpster: Thank you to the many individuals who made suggestions and are willing to assist in monitoring green waste usage. After reviewing expenses for this year and projecting future need we can bring the green waste dumpster back for approximately three weeks; barring excess tonnage due to misuse. Please do not put anything in the dumpster that is prohibited or not green waste. If you see something, say something. Materials Not Acceptable: Rocks and gravel, dirt, tree root balls, sod, plastic bags, dimensional lumber, plywood, painted or treated woods, fence posts, railroad ties, invasive weeds (dyers woad, thistle, etc.) or any trash, garbage or refuse of any kind. Anything over 6ft. in length or 12 inches in diameter is not acceptable. There is and has been a sign that specifies what is considered green waste at the green waste area. Some have stated the Town is being petty, quite the opposite is true. When we started this there was no green waste tonnage fee. That has changed this year to $25 per ton. Initially, Clarkston planned for approximately $400 dollars a month, because T&S provided this service at cost, we are now averaging $720 per month. Due in part to the windstorms, abuse, and tonnage cost. We have cut expenses in other areas to absorb the additional costs and keep the service. In the future, the Town Council will need to decide if this is a viable option as costs will only continue to increase. Please keep your suggestions and thoughts coming and let’s be responsible in utilizing this service. Mayor Hidalgo
